Duo Wonder is het label van textieldesigner Sofie Hermans en grafisch- en juweelontwerper Katja Noelmans. Met als vertrekpunt het grillige Limburgse fietsroutenetwerk en hun verwondering voor de spirograaf en cyclograaf, ontwerpen zij broches en halskettingen die bestaan uit geborduurde patronen en rotaties. De borduursels worden in een 3D-geprinte broche of hanger geplaatst. Afhankelijk van je humeur kan je in dezelfde broche of hanger telkens een ander textielontwerp plaatsen. Duo Wonder werkt met herwonnen grondstoffen.
Duo Wonder is the label of textile designer Sofie Hermans and graphic- and jewellery designer Katja Noelmans. Inspired by the erratic lines of the Limburg cycle network and their fascination with the cyclograph and the spirograph, they create brooches and necklaces with embroidered patterns and rotations. The embroideries are put in a 3D-printed brooch or pendant. Depending on your mood you can put different textile designs in the same hanger or pendant. Duo Wonder uses recycled materials.
Sofie is de ideeënmachine van Duo Wonder. Ze wordt wild van grafische prints met een imperfect kantje en lijkt wel een wandelende encyclopedie wat betreft textieltechnieken. Sofie studeerde af als textieldesigner aan Sint-Lucas Gent. (Later LUCA School of Arts).
Sofie is the Duo Wonder idea-generator. With her encyclopaedic knowledge of textile techniques, she’s passionate about graphic prints with a hint of imperfection. Sofie graduated in Textile Design from LUCA School of Arts, Ghent.
Katja is de verbeelding van Duo Wonder. Met haar tekensoftware tovert ze de meest intrigerende creaties tevoorschijn en laat ze je graag verdwalen in patronen. Katja studeerde als juweelontwerper af aan de Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten Antwerpen.
Katja is the imagination of Duo Wonder. Using 2D and 3D graphics software, she conjures up intriguing motifs and spins you around in disorienting patterns. Katja graduated in Jewellery Design from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Antwerp.
